Wind surfing freestyle is amazing to watch with riders throwing themselves under or over large boards in strong winds...its a recipe for disaster yet after the loops and flips these guys tend to ride away unscathed.

The action on the Island has been frantic with heats everyday and now they have moved on to the speed sailing. Hold on and hope.

The kite surfing started yesterday with course racing a new discipline this year as kitesurf expands into new areas faster than anyother sport at present. Course racing is difficult as kiters have to tack around a course that is designed to test their strength stamina and skill. With rules that can get you disqualified at the drop of a hat kiters have to be very careful to follow the rules.  Its quite  a sight as 27 rider cross the starting line and head toward the first buoy all jostling for the advantage in line and wind.

Moving on to the freestyle single elimination. One or two of the British riders had bad first rounds due to being to kind to other riders but overall the competition was going great.

The high light of the day was a round with Aaron Hadlow and Ruben Lenten on the water at the same time. Huge kite loops massive handle passes mobes, slims and a variety of smaller trick sealed the deal to set up an encounter in the next round. Unfortunately Ruben injured his knee so didn't compete against Aaron. The final of the singles was between Aaron and Kevin Langeree, Aaron had a mare of a final having problems with his harness Kevin took advantage so watch this space for further info of the doubles.

The doubles were started today immediately after the singles final. Going straight into the mens Ali Barrett and Tom Court went through after a disappointing singles. Ali who didn't get to complete a full first round was ripping with mega loop, slim chance and his best move a 360 kung fu handle pass. He blew the crowd (and commentator) away as they all wondered how he had been knocked out so early the day before.

So with four heats already completed the comp is set to resume at 11am tomorrow.
