Love Jam Wakeboarders at Liquid Leisure Waterski and Wakeboard ParkLiquid Leisure Waterski and Wakeboard Park started their 2011 wakeboard competition season with Love Jam. Following the installation of the cable system in 2010, Liquid Leisure held their   first cable wakeboarding competition at the end of September 2010. Despite being thrown together in a matter of weeks, Love Jam was a roaring success and the decision was made to make this an annual event. So as the Mediterranean sun beat down on the dock with temperatures of 20+ degrees and not a cloud in the sky, the riders gathered for the day's action.

Kicking off with a demo session, competition riders and general public had the opportunity to try out the latest boards and bindings courtesy of the Liquid Force team together with wetsuits and impact vests from the guys at O'Neill. Getting in on the action, ExPix took to the water during the free ride session to shoot some video from angles that we knew we wouldn't get during the competition.

Back on land and the ExPix team set up camp next to O'Neill, entertaining the crowds with videos from last year's Love Jam and Night Jump, together with surfing action from the O'Neill Coldwater Classic in Thurso. As the competition started these were quickly replaced by images from the day's action which were uploaded within minutes of each qualifier. The images looked fantastic on the flatscreen and the ExPix stand was busy all afternoon with riders wanting to see themselves in action!

With a influx of competitors signing up on the day the numbers competing quickly rose to 65+. The decision was made to start the competition an hour earlier than planned to make sure everyone had chance to ride, so at 2pm the action began with 10 minute heats.

There was fantastic riding at all levels with the Mini's, (Under 12's), proving to be fearless. Despite their age and inexperience; some had only been riding for a month and had never entered a competition before, they were jumping and throwing out inverts off the kickers!

In the Junior categories, Laura Christian, sponsored by Mystic and Cain Hamilton rode with skill and determination giving the crowds a taste of what tomorrows pro's might look like.

The boys U16's carried on where the mini's left off pushing the limits even further. Bearing in mind some of these guys were well under the age limit its frightening to think what they will be able to do in a few years time.

The masters also had some interesting competition as can be seen below. Chloe Goudie pushed Steph Caller all the way in the Open Women's category but Steph's experience and composure showed through giving her the overall edge.

With Ben Hitch, Jonty Green, Louis Cornwall and Gareth Stelfox, the Open Men's was not to be missed. The crowds were still out in force as the Men's final began.

Riding to a glorious sunset,Gaz Stelfox, sponsored by Mystic, was on fire, landing everything, to take a much deserved first place on the podium.

The competition drew to a close as the evening sun dipped behind the trees and then it was over to the club house for the presentations. Battling against the noise from the aircraft coming into land, which seemed to be every two minutes, Stuart Marston thanked all the sponsors and riders for their efforts as Alex Gardiner presented the winners with their goodie bag prizes, medals and cheques.
