Loch Stock Wakeboard Competition

There can be fewer places in the UK that have a more stunning back drop for a wakeboarding competition than the shores of Loch Lomond, home of Scotland’s biggest and best wakeboarding festival, Loch Stock.

Described as ‘everyone's favourite event of the year’ Loch Stock is now in its 8th year and is run by the guys at Loch Lomond Wakeboard. Think of a ‘Jam’ and your regular wakeboard comp and Loch Stock is somewhere in between. With camping on site or the chance to grab that VIP treatment by staying at the Ardlui Hotel or in one of the Loch side lodges complete with your own hot tub and sauna; Loch Stock is super chilled, super fun and with a great vibe.
After a week of blazing temperatures, the heavens opened on Loch Stock on Saturday 4th July. And whilst the rain poured down in the bucket loads, it did nothing to dampen the spirits. To sounds of the Red Bull DJ’s, ‘Pro Wakeboarding Clinics’ were held with coaching lessons being given by American pro wakeboarders, Adam Errington from Orlando and Josh Twelker from California.

Fresh from their road trip riding the Scottish lochs from Loch Lomond to Ullapool; Adam who was born in Scotland braved the elements, dishing out tips and advice from the back of the wake boats.

Meanwhile Nautique boat owners were treated to their own pro coach in the form of Nautique sponsored rider, Josh Twelker who stepped aboard owners boats for a very personal lesson. And if having their own pro coach wasn’t enough, Nautique owners also had the services of ExPix’s head of photography, Ian Edmondson, who was personally on hand to capture all the action.

Mid-afternoon and a slight break in the weather brought drizzle and sunshine and the most glorious rainbow that framed Adam and Josh as they thrilled the crowds with their ‘Big Air’ demo. Talk about a pot of gold!!!!!!!

Saturday night and the American wakeboarders showed the Loch Stock crowds how to celebrate Independence Day in style. To the sounds of local band, Easy Tiger, the roof was well and truly lifted off the Ardlui Hotel.

On Sunday it was time for the legendary Loch Stock wakeboarding competition to get under way. Fired up and rearing to go, riders got to throw down their moves behind the magnificent Super Air Nautique G21 wake boat. With the competition open to wakeboarders of all ages and abilities, no one was exclude at Loch Stock, including the adventurous one who thought he’d enter a competition before he learnt to wakeboard……..you know who you are, Ameer Ibrahim!!!!!!!

With the competitions over it time for the prize giving. With prizes donated by Liquid Force, Obrien, O’Neill, Fox, Red Paddle Co and Glide Sole, no one went away empty handed and everyone agreed it had been well worth the £25 entry fee for adults and £10 for children.

For ExPix it was our first time at Loch Stock and after what can only be described as a truly amazing weekend, where from start to finish we were made to feel totally and utterly welcomed, almost like one of the team or part of the family; we can honestly say that Loch Stock, you certainly lived up to your reputation!

Huge thanks to Raymond, Gordy, and all the team at Loch Lomond Wakeboard for putting on such a fantastic event and the guys at the Ardlui Hotel for hosting the parties and for providing the BBQ, we had a great time and can’t wait for 2016.
