Love Jam Wakeboard Event

Most people would still be recovering 2 weeks after a big event, not so for Stuart and the team at Liquid Leisure. With Night Jump hardly put to bed the guys were busy planning their first dedicated cable comp on the Rixen cable system newly installed in 2010. Not only that but they allowed themselves just 3 weeks to do it all in!

So Love Jam was born and after a number of text & FB messages from various riders ExPix decided to squeeze one more event into their busy schedule and on Saturday we headed back down the M25 to Liquid Leisure.

The pre event vibe was that Love Jam was all about inclusion; this was an event for everyone, it didn't matter how good you were or how old. Running heats for U13's 14-18's, Am Mens, Pro Women, Pro Mens, Masters, Vetrans, Am Wakeskate and Pro Wakeskate, the event was inundated with over 100 entries from riders proving that the organisers had certainly pitched it right!

The sun was out and the lakeside packed with riders as the first heat of the day, the under 13 Girls got under way. The competition format was based around jam style sessions, perfect for the younger riders, first timers and ams giving them chance to overcome their nerves. The format also proved popular with the pro rides who were able to build up to their bigger tricks knowing that a fall wouldn't be the end of their chances; a quick run back to the dock and they could be off again, time allowing. And, to the amusement of the crowds, Michael Jackson even managed to make an appearance!

Highlight of the day had to be the Amateur Wakteskate comp which saw the youngest rider of the day, Connor Floyd aged 10 beat the oldest rider of the day Jack Woodward aged 57 proving that age is no match for experience!

As the riders soaked up the last of the sun and enjoyed the chilled laid back atmosphere a sudden frenzy whipped up as the pizzas arrived! The day began to draw to a close and there was just time for a quick floodlight comp on the Two Towers before everyone made their way to the bar for the prize giving and after party.

As the results were announced it was obvious that the quick turn around in organising the event hadn't deterred the sponsors; Mystic and Hyperlite showed their support by coming on board as did Rixen Cableways, Punto Pizzas, Grand Cafe Garibaldi, CTC, to name but a few!

So a fantastic effort by all at Liquid Leisure, looking forward to 2011 for an even bigger better comp!
